    Rice. It’s everywhere. Like, literally, everywhere on the planet. And yet, for something so common, there’s this weird mystery around it — does rice go bad? I mean, it sits in those giant bags forever, right? But I swear, every now and then I stare at my pantry wondering if that rice is actually safe to eat or if I’m about to unleash a stomach rebellion.

    Anyway, here’s the kicker: yes, rice does go bad. But it’s sneaky about it, and depends on a few key things like type, storage, and time. Let’s unpack that mystery together.

    Moisture is the biggest enemy — even a little humidity and suddenly you’ve got mold or bugs partying in your rice.

    Heat and sunlight speed up spoilage. So storing rice in a hot, sunny spot is basically like setting a timer for disaster.

    • Freeze if you want to play it safe. Both cooked and uncooked rice freeze well in portions.
